Improve your website: Size matters
Ensuring you optimise your images is important – it helps improve page load speed, boosts a website's SEO ranking and improves the user experience.
How do you optimise your images?
- Make your image file size as small as possible and use the correct format. Some file formats save at different file sizes with the most common being png or jpeg
- Using the correct size of the image will reduce the size of the image. Using the wrong size image will mean the user’s browser will need to scale it dynamically meaning it will depend on the power of the device being used
- Compress your images which reduces the file size. It most cases you will not see a difference in quality but smaller means it is less for your user to download meaning a quicker site
And finally, make sure your images mean something to google by naming it something that is appropriate. Furthermore, ensure to add ALT tags to all images as this helps with Accessibility. Both of these tips can boost the website's SEO as well.
